The Danish Defense Annual Conference (DDAC) 2026 was more than just a gathering of industry leaders; it was a showcase of a fundamental shift in how defense technology is developed and deployed. With over 20 countries represented, the atmosphere in Copenhagen was clear: the future of defense is agile, connected, and increasingly built on "dual-use" foundations.
At MiWire Group, we are proud to be at the heart of this evolution. Our participation this year highlighted how specialized, high-performing 5G and 4G technology, originally designed for the toughest maritime and industrial environments, is now solving critical communication gaps for the defense sector.
The New Breed of Agile Defense Partners
The traditional defense landscape is changing. We are seeing the rise of a "new breed" of small and mid-sized companies, like MiWire, that bring a level of agility that larger, legacy contractors often struggle to match.
By adapting dual-use technologies, we can bridge the gap between commercial efficiency and military-grade reliability. This approach doesn't just lower costs; it accelerates the "exponential development" that Danish Chief of Defense, Michael Hyldgaard, highlighted during his keynote. At MiWire, we don't just sell a terminal; we provide a capability that enhances the economic and operational efficiency of modern defense solutions.
The MiWire Value Proposition: Intelligence Over Just "Signal"
In a defense context, "good enough" connectivity doesn't exist. Whether it’s an aerial drone or a terrestrial robot, the mission depends on a link that stays alive when others fail.
Our value proposition to the defense industry is built on three pillars:
Powering the X-WAVE: A Partnership with Stormborn
One of our proudest moments at DDAC 2026 was finalizing our agreement with Stormborn. We will be supplying MiWire technology to be integrated into their X-WAVE USVs (Uncrewed Surface Vessels).
The X-WAVE is a perfect example of why our tech matters. By adding a SeaWire communication layer, the X-WAVE gains a vital redundancy to its satellite systems. Using our automatic directional antenna technology, these vessels can maintain high-speed broadband in coastal waters and beyond, providing persistent maritime domain awareness.
What’s Next for MiWire?
The momentum from DDAC is carrying us straight into a busy spring season. We believe that collaborative innovation is the only way to stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
If you missed us at DDAC, you can find the MiWire team at our next two major stops:
At MiWire, we are committed to providing the "eyes and ears" for the next generation of defense platforms. Let’s connect and build a more secure, more agile future together.
